"A lot of the picture books about hijab from Muslim pub/ self-published authors tend to be annoyingly preachy and boring, but I LOVE "A Crown for Mama" by @shieda_!
This book follows a mother who looks for an answer to the question of why Muslim women wear hijab - and discovers a powerful answer. And yes, while this book does reference the "hijab is my crown" phrase that I'm usually pretty sick of, it manages to be thoughtful enough (and cute enough!) that I'm rather charmed by the whole thing.
This book is fantastic for explaining hijab to young ones in a way that draws a direct connection to love for Allah, which is really the only way hijab should be explained in the beginning! It's so very well done, and I am duly impressed by the execution of this book.
