This is a translation of Imam al-Qazwini's abridgement of Imam al-Bayhaqi's Shu`ab al-Iman (The Branches of Faith) by Sidi Abdal-Hakim Murad. It is a translation of one of the most popular manuals of Islam, divided into seventy-seven chapters, each dealing with a major aspect of Islam, giving the relevant Qur'anic verses and authentic Hadiths for each. Several scholars compiled similar works, using the following Prophetic Hadith as their basis: "Faith has sixty-odd, or seventy-odd branches." In his usual style of translation, Sidi Abdal-Hakim has done a marvellous job in rendering the Arabic into eloquent English while remaining faithful to the orignial text. The translator has also included referential footnotes throughout the text.
